About
I started my passion for education as an unqualified music teacher thirty years ago. Fresh from my degree course, I embarked on my teaching career, thinking that I would do the job for a year to gain experience in the workplace, and then I would leave to pursue a different avenue, as yet undecided.
Thirty years on, my passion for education remains and I have also remained in education, having worked in two different phases – mainstream and special educational needs – for seventeen and twelve years respectively. I gained my National Professional Qualification for Headship in 2007.
I have been a teacher, middle leader and senior leader in both phases and more recently I have had the privilege of being the founding Head of School of a brand new free special school in north west London. Under my leadership, the school evolved and grew and successfully gained a ‘Good with outstanding features’ judgement at its first Section 5 Ofsted inspection. My experiences of creating vision, culture, brand new systems and processes, alongside rapid expansion of staff, pupils, parental engagement and curricular needs that showed tangible increases in attainment and progress are skills that I can help YOU with.
